(29/10/23) Malaysia is one of the most important and
exciting business and leisure destinations in not only ASEAN, but
the world.
The country has such an abundance of diverse
natural beauty and rich cultural heritage that you can return
hundreds of times and still have many places yet to discover.
Megat Ardian Wira Mohd Aminuddin
To learn how the country is managing its post-Covid
recovery from a travel and tourism perspective, Steven Howard of
TravelNewsAsia.com sat down with Megat Ardian
Wira Mohd Aminuddin, Senior General Manager – Strategy, Airports
Malaysia, during the Routes World 2023 airport services and
airline route development conference and exhibition in Istanbul, Türkiye
earlier this month.
In this interview, filmed on 16 October, Steven
asks what Airports Malaysia hoped to gain from attending Routes
World, how successful the event has been for the company, and who
they are meeting whilst there.
Megat tells us exactly how many airports the
company currently owns and manages, where they are, what domestic
and international passenger numbers they are currently
seeing, what targets they have set for 2024, and what plans
Airports Malaysia has to expand and refurbish its assets.
We discus what surprises, if any, Airports
Malaysia is seeing as travel rebounds, what initiatives they have
put in place to make the arrival and departure experience
smoother for passengers – both Malaysian residents and foreigners,
and which technology is helping them to achieve that goal.
Megat shares his thoughts on the latest booking
trends, the changing travel behaviour of passengers at
airports, which brands Airports Malaysia is working with to
address such changes, which markets the country is trying to
attract, what the company and country is doing to address
the issue of sustainable aviation and SAF, and where Airports
Malaysia is currently in its long term digitalisation plans. All that and much, much
more in the HD video and podcast below.
