4.45 million units energy saved by consumers, 24% savings in power bills : Tata Power

MUMBAI: Tata Power on Wednesday announced that its city consumers saved 4.45 million units of energy by adopting an energy-efficient lifestyle in 2023, thereby resulting in 24% savings in electricity bills.
The announcement came in the wake of power utility firms in Mumbai celebrating Energy Conservation Week from December 14 to 21, 2023 to promote awareness and encourage energy-efficient practices.
“More than 30,000 consumers in the island city and suburbs use green energy, with annualised sales of more than 300 million units,” a senior official said. This is besides 60% of Tata Power consumers opting for the e-bills which has saved 48 lakh sheets of paper. “More than 88% of consumers pay online thereby reducing their carbon footprint,” he added.
The National Energy Conservation Day is celebrated on December 14 every year, in order to spread the message on the importance of conserving energy and to showcase the achievements of the nation in energy efficiency and conservation. Adani Electricity will also be observing the week, with over 31 lakh consumers adopting energy saving measures.
Adani Energy Solutions Ltd., which owns and operates Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd, announced that it is on track to procure 60%of its total power purchase from renewable energy by 2027, from current 38%. These sources will be chiefly solar and wind and will aid in reducing the company’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission by 40% by 2024-25 over the 2018-19 baseline.
Tata Power has also launched the film ‘DuniyaApneHawale’ promoting the message of “Embrace Mother Earth. Love Our Planet. Switch to Green and Clean Energy’, which is an extension of its ‘Sustainable Is Attainable’ Campaign, an official said.
The company has successfully delivered more than 5,000 energy-efficient appliances to consumers.
