In the Melbourne Test, Australia defeated Pakistan by 79 runs on the fourth day itself. On Friday, Pakistan was all out for 237 runs in the second innings. Pak Captain Shan Masood and Aga Salman made it to the stock market but the team did not win.
Whereas for Australia, team captain Pat Cummins, who took five wickets in the first innings, also took five wickets in the second innings. Cummins was chosen player of the match.
With the win in the second test, Australia has taken a 2-0 lead in the series. In the first test, the Kangaroo team had won by 360 runs. The third and last Test will be played in Sydney on 3 January 2024.

Cummins was awarded the Johnny Mulag Medal in this match. The best player (Man of the Match) of the Boxing Day Test match is awarded the Johnny Mulag Medal. Johnny Mulag was the captain of the Australian cricket team in 1868, after whom this medal is named. Mullagh was the captain of the first Australian team to go on an overseas tour.
