Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway (ECOR) aims to complete the Sonpur-Puruncuttack section (73 km) of the Khurda Road-Balangir new line project by the end of this year. ECOR General Manager Manoj Sharma said this while inspecting the Newline project on Wednesday.
He also reviewed the ongoing infrastructure works as well as security and passenger amenities Khurda Road And Daspalla The 301 km long Khurda Road-Balangir section of the new line project. After the operationalization of the rail line up to Sonpur, ECOR will complete the construction of the next section entering Boudh district.
ECOR has revised the project deadline to December 2026. The project timeline has changed several times due to delays in land acquisition and diversion of forest land. The cost of the project has increased due to delays. ECOR sources said, work is now going on war footing.
