Atletico Madrid defeated rivals Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey round of 16 clash late on Thursday night. In the match played at the Civitas Metropolitano Stadium, Atlético defeated defending champion Real Madrid 4–2 and entered the quarter-finals of the competition.

With this defeat, Real Madrid’s journey in the tournament ended. This is Real Madrid’s first defeat after 21 matches. The Copa del Rey begins on November 1 and the final takes place on April 6 at the La Cartuja stadium in Seville.
