New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell will not play in the 5th T20 match against Pakistan. He has been given rest keeping in mind his workload. Rachin Russell has been included in the team in his place.
Rachin was also on a break after the Bangladesh Florida series. He played his last international match against Bangladesh in Napier on 23 December.
New Zealand has taken an unassailable 4-0 lead in the 5-match series. The last match of the series will be played in Christchurch on 21 January.
New Zealand coach Gary Stead said, we have decided to rest Mitchell in this match. After this we also have some important star matches. Mitchell is a three’s player so it is important that we pay attention to his workload.
Mitchell has two places in four matches
Daryl Mitchell is second in terms of scoring the most runs for the team in the first four matches. Finn Allen is at number one. Mitchell made two innings steals in four matches. He played a brilliant inning of 72 runs in 44 balls in Pakistan’s fourth T20 match and the team got consecutive victories.
