(15/02/24) During the first four days of the Chinese New
Year holiday (10 – 13 February 2024), Hong Kong welcomed about

Mainland China, exceeding the Mainland arrivals of 640,000 in the
same period in 2018.
Provisional figures also reveal that the vibrant
city attracted 3.83 million visitor arrivals in January 2024,
equivalent to 72% during the same month in 2018. The preliminary
breakdown of those 3.83 million visitors is as follows:
Mainland: 2,984,761 Non-Mainland*: 840,856

arrivals with the daily average equivalent to 83% of the
whole-month average in February 2018, maintaining the city’s recovery
momentum.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) helped to
organise and promote several major events during the festive Lunar
New Year period, including the International Chinese New Year
Night Parade, the 2024 Lunar New Year Fireworks Display, and the
Chinese New Year Raceday, held on the first three days of Chinese
New Year, respectively.
The much-loved city is no stranger to major events
and hosts some of the region’s largest and most popular annual sporting,
lifestyle and entertainments events, such as the Hong Kong Sevens,
the marathon, dragon boat races, swimming competitions in the harbour, and so much more.
It is also one of the region’s most important and advanced business centres.
