While Silicon Valley companies like OpenAI are building large LLMs, those efforts have limited solutions due to computational constraints and simple models affordable to small businesses and government departments.
“This is a different style of LLM,” said Ganesh Ramakrishnan, chairman of the department of computer science and engineering at IIT Bombay.
Hanuman will also offer speech-to-text capabilities, making it largely user-friendly, he said in an interview on the sidelines of the annual NASSCOM IT industry conference. In a country with a population of 1.4 billion, millions of people cannot read or write.
Reliance Jio will create customized models for specific uses, he said. The telecom-to-retail group is already working on Jio Brain, a platform to use AI on its network of about 450 million customers.
