eligibility for CGHS Facilities
CGHS is available to all central government employees Paid from Central Civil Estimates (except Railways and Delhi Administration) and their families. Additionally, Central Government pensioners (except Railways and Armed Forces) and their families are also eligible for CGHS coverage.

Eligibility for revised rates of CGHS package
Under CGHS, eligibility for medical facilities is determined by residence only. Therefore, Central Government employees and their families residing in any notified city are covered under this scheme. CGHS services are available in 80 cities across India. The updated rates for general surgeries are applicable to all CGHS cities, as stated in the office memorandum.
To access CGHS services, a Central Government employee must fill the required forms in the prescribed format and attach photographs of the eligible family members. These forms should then be submitted to the concerned ministry, department or office where the employee is employed.
Central government pensioners have the option to obtain CGHS card from the office of the Additional Director in their city. Forms for this purpose can be obtained from the office of the Additional Director in the city (or Additional Director Headquarters in Delhi), or they can be downloaded from the CGHS website. In situations where the Pension Payment Order (PPO) is not yet available, a provisional card can be issued on the basis of the last pay certificate.
The revised rates of CGHS package for general surgeries will be implemented from February 1, 2024.
