Nagpur: French wine giant Pernod Ricard Signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government on Friday for invest one in malt distillery In Nagpur. With a capacity of 60,000 liters per day, the proposed unit is termed as India’s largest malt distillery. Of the company’s own facilities, it is also the largest in Asia, and could be the largest in the continent for the industry, Pernod officials said.
The company plans to invest Rs 1,785 crore in the unit over a period of 10 years. Construction may take more than two years to complete, after which the spirit will be aged. The new distillery will also significantly increase revenue collection from excise duty.
