In early trade, major equity indices gained momentum with Sensex rising nearly 100 points. The rally was fueled by a global rally in equities, which boosted investor sentiments and 32 of the Nifty constituents were trading in the green.
On Thursday, Nifty closed 180.1 points higher at 22,235.15, while Sensex closed 535.15 points higher at 73,158.24.
IT shares jumped 1.94% after falling 2.8% in three sessions. HCLTech, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, L&T, TCS and Maruti were among the top Nifty gainers.
Globally, Hong Kong shares closed lower on Friday, following record highs in Japanese, US and European markets led by a surge in tech shares.
