 With many countries in Europe looking to attract
more tourists, improve cargo connectivity and business ties with
different countries in South East Asia, there were a number of
European airports attending the Routes Asia 2024 airline route
development and airport services conference and exhibition in Langkawi, Malaysia last
month.

One such airport was Berlin Airport (BER) in
Germany. In 2023, BER handled 23.07 million passengers, 3.22
million more than in 2022, but still 12.6 million fewer than
pre-COVID.

A total of 176,649 aircraft took off and landed at
the capital airport during 2023, an increase of 7.5% compared to
2022.

In 2024, numbers are already looking positive. In
January, the airport handled around 1.48 million passengers
(+12.8% on January 2023), 11,980 aircraft movements and loaded
approximately 2,860 tonnes of air cargo.

In February, BER
welcomed around 1.57 million passengers (+10.9% on February 2023),
12,433 aircraft movements and handled around 2,991 tonnes of air cargo.

Intelligence, Corporate & Business Development, to ask him that
question and his thoughts on the event as as whole.
