(15/03/24) Hosted by Malaysia Airports and Tourism
Malaysia, the 20th edition of the annual Routes Asia airline route
development and airport services conference and exhibition took
place on the picturesque island of Langkawi in Malaysia from 27-29
February 2024.
The event, one of the most respected and important
airline route development meetings in the region, brought together
some 900 decision makers from airlines, airports and NTOs from
around the world.
And, with air travel recovery happening much
quicker than many anticipated, a record number of airlines sent
Vice Presidents and Heads of Network Development and Planning to
Routes Asia 2024 to strengthen partnerships and secure new
business with airport representatives, conducting approximately
3,500 meetings over the three days.

Malaysia has long been a supporter of the Routes
series of exhibitions around the world and hosted the first three
consecutive Routes Asia events in 2003-2005. Other Routes events
that take place annually include: Routes Americas, Routes Europe
and Routes World.
To learn more about the state of the industry,
what different airports, NTOs and others are doing to improve
business, where business is in relation to pre-COVID19 levels, and
what challenges they face in trying to secure new routes and
business, Steven Howard of Travel News Asia sat down with eight
VIPs attending Routes Asia 2024 as well as the General Manager of
the Mercure Langkawi Pantai Cenang hotel, Jamsine Keh.
Each of those nine interviews are available in HD
video and audio podcast formats below, as well as on their
respective pages.
Routes Asia will take next place in Perth, Western Australia, from 25 to 27 March 2025.
