Gucci has opened its fifth store in India and third in Mumbai in the city’s new Jio World Plaza at Bandra Kurla Complex. To celebrate the opening, the Italian brand has launched a limited-edition gold Padlock Bag, available exclusively in the new boutique.
Gucci’s new Mumbai store opened its doors to the public with wide selection of pieces for both men and women including ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, jewellery, and accessories, the brand announced in a press release. The store also retails home products from the Gucci Décor line.
The boutique measures 5,800 square feet and has a marble façade, designed to naturally light onto its surroundings. Inside the store, marble flooring and hand-painted wood flooring featuring decorative motifs help to create an atmosphere akin to historic buildings. Velvet armchairs and sofas offer shoppers places to relax and contemplate purchases and the space uses energy- efficient technologies.
Gucci has launched an exclusive Padlock Bag, only available to purchase in its new Jio World Plaza store, to mark its launch. The metallic, structured bag mixes the brand’s design heritage with festive golden hues to emphasise the brand’s commitment to the Indian market.
“Recalling the brand’s origins in the world of travel and luggage, the small shoulder bag is defined by its padlock closure,” announced Gucci in a press release. “Inspired by the key lock on vintage suitcases, the retro and gorgeous buckle is made in metal, as dazzling as a treasure box. This style is in shiny gold anaconda leather enriched by the iconic bamboo handle and a detachable anaconda and chain shoulder strap to serve as a multi-functional piece.”
