Over 20,000 bpd of Russian jet fuel exports in doubt after suspected drone attack
Moscow: Jet fuel export volumes at risk of disruption suspected drone attack on one Baltic Sea Terminal may exceed 20,000 barrels per day (BPD), according to data from the terminal owner, most of it is destined for Turkey Novatek,
The company said on Sunday it was forced to suspend some operations at a giant Baltic Sea fuel export terminal and “technical processes” at a nearby fuel-producing complex after a fire caused by a drone strike was reported by Ukrainian media.
According to the latest company data available, the complex will process more than 1 million metric tons, or 20,000 bpd, of jet fuel in 2022.
Since then, a hydrocracker unit was installed at the complex, increasing capacity.
Taking advantage of reserves, Novatek resumed fuel loading at the Ust-Luga terminal on Wednesday, according to industry sources and LSEG data.
But analysts have said it will take weeks, if not months, for the complex to resume operations on a large scale.
The complex produces naphtha for Asian markets including China, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan.
It also produces jet fuel, much of which is delivered to Istanbul for Turkish Airlines, according to ship tracking data and industry sources.
